OSHA and the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) initiated in a formal alliance to further promote workers’ safety and health in 2002.  On June 11, 2015, it was announced that OSHA and the ASSE renewed their alliance via a five-year agreement, committing to address topics such as construction safety, temporary workers, and hazards within the industry. In renewing their alliance, OSHA and ASSE will work to provide guidance and training on protecting worker safety and health, understanding worker rights, and the responsibilities of employers under the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970.

“Since our alliance began more than a decade ago, the ASSE has been a champion partner of the agency, communicating OSHA information to its members and supporting our national initiatives like the National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls in Construction,” said Dr. David Michaels, Assistant Secretary of Labor for OSHA.  “We look forward to building on this collaboration and will continue to work closely to help ensure the safety and health of all workers, including those who are most vulnerable.”

Considered the world’s oldest and largest professional safety organization, the ASSE works to create safer work environments and advance the occupational safety and health industry.

Having just returned from ASSE’s Safety 2015 Tradeshow in Dallas Texas, we celebrate this ongoing collaboration between OSHA and the ASSE.  We are proud to be a part of the industry where we can help improve safety and health!
