Have You Utilized OSHA as an On-Site Consultant?

Inspection by OSHA Consultant

Small businesses employ more than 50% of the working population. The US Small Business Administration (SBA) defines a small business as an enterprise consisting of less than 500 employees. Because small businesses are such a vital component to our economy, resources have been made available to aid the development of these companies. OSHA’s On-site Consultation Program is one example of a resource made available for small/medium-sized business.

OSHA’s On-site Consultation Program provides free and confidential safety and occupational health advice to small and medium-sized companies throughout the country. Priority is given to high hazard work places. Small/medium sized companies may request a consultation through OSHA.

On-Site Consultants will:
· Help identify hazards in your workplace
· Suggest general solutions to prevent potential safety and health hazards
· Provide a written report to summarize findings
· Assist in development or maintenance of injury and illness prevention program
· Provide initial training and education

On-Site Consultants will not:
· Issue citations or propose penalties for violations of OSHA standards
